Former DiGi Senior Exec charged with receiving bribes totalling RM425,000

SHAH ALAM, Jan 7 —  A former senior executive of Digi Telecommunication Sdn Bhd was charged in the Sessions Court here today with 14 counts of receiving bribes totalling RM425,000 from a company.

S. Stanley, 39, who was the telco's senior procurement officer, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read out to him before Judge Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh.

Stanley, from Bandar Kinrara, Puchong near here, is alleged to have received the money via a Maybank account from Syarikat Nakhoda Sistem Sdn Bhd as an inducement to select the company as a cable and telecommunications equipment supplier to Digi Telecommunication.

He is alleged to have committed the offences at the Taman Kinrara Maybank branch in Puchong between Aug 13 2007 and Oct 22 2008.

Azhaniz Teh set bail at RM50,000 in one surety and ordered the accused to surrender his passport to the court until the case was settled.

He said Feb 8 for re-mention and five days from April 11 for the trial.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy public prosecutors Muhammad Sinti and Ng Siew Wee appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by counsel Firuz Jaffril.
